Charity creates award for Robbie

Robbie (1) was born with a rare heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot and endured two major life saving heart operations.

Colours of Islam works to bring communities together and celebrate the bravery and inspiration of sick children as well as fundraising for Yorkhill.

Robbie was nominated for a Shining Star award as Colours of Islam recognise far-reaching achievements, possibly on a national or international level.

Along with the other 22 nominees in seven categories - Outstanding Bravery, Shining Star, Young Volunteer of the year, Parent of the Year, Inspirational Star, Super Sister and brilliant brother - Robbie attended the charity’s awards event in Glasgow.

After the awards had been given out it was announced a new one had been created to honour a very special person and Robbie was presented with it by Depute First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

His mum Hollie Brown said: “Without Robbie’s strength and determination we wouldn’t have embarked on our fundraising quests raising £3,000 for Yorkhill and £550 for the British Heart Foundation.

“We are currently raising funds for the Zak Scott Braveheart Foundation and I’ll be taking part in the Titan Crane abseil on June 14.

“It’s thanks to Robbie that we created our Tetralogy of Fallots UK Facebook support group where 200 members look to each other for support and guidance.

“We’ve also shared Robbie’s story via Facebook, Robbie our ToF Warrior, which has over 2,000 followers, as we try to raise awareness of congenital heart defects.”
