Charity offers New Beginnings to Clydesdale’s homeless

People emerging from a homeless crisis and taking their first steps on their own can feel hopeless as soon as they close their new front door.

For while they have been allocated a roof over their heads and are no longer homeless, they can be left standing inside a flat with not a stick of furniture, no kettle, no plates and frequently not even any food.

A small Clydesdale charity is finding more and more new householders being referred to it for “starter packs” with contents ranging from fresh food to kettles and curtains.

“We take a referral for someone who is in desperate need,“ explained Mary McLellan, convener and a founder member of the New Beginnings charity.
