Christmas story...in Carstairs and Carstairs Junction

CAMELS and a pony featured in an extra special nativity show staged in Carstairs and Carstairs Junction!

The Junction was transformed into Nazareth while the village became Bethlehem as hundreds of people lined the streets to see the half hour journey from one village to the other.

Having told the first part of the Christmas story in the Junction, the pony carried Mary to 'Bethlehem' while Roman soldiers and three camels complete with wise men followed.

Once in Carstairs the end of the nativity story was told.

There was also a chance to meet Santa in the community centre as well as enjoying tea, coffee and mulled wine while on the village green a Christmas market with 18 stalls was set up.

Rev Alan Gibson said: "The atmosphere in both communities was absolutely fantastic and a lot of people followed the procession."
