City council control centre opens

Glasgow city council’s new operations centre opened this week.

The state-of-the-art facility, based at Eastgate, is part of the £24m Future Cities Glasgow programme.

It brings together Community Safety Glasgow’s CCTV operations with Traffcom – the team in charge of traffic lights and traffic cameras.

The facility, which was launched by council leader Gordon Matheson, will be used to keep the city running during the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
