Clare Adamson wins Motherwell and Wishaw for SNP

The SNP gained the Motherwell and Wishaw seat in the Scottish Parliament as Clare Adamson defeated Labour John Pentland by over 6,000 votes.

The result means Clare steps up from a Central Scotland MSP to a Constituency MSP and is thrilled to be able to represent her home town.

She said: “As someone born and bred in Motherwell it is a dream come true that the SNP should do so well in this area.

“We’ve worked very hard to make that happen, my councillor colleagues and our MP Marion Fellows work as a team in this area to do our very best for the constituents.”

Result: Clare Adamson (SNP) 15,291; John Pentland (Lab) 9,068; Meghan Gallacher (Con) 3,991; Yvonne Finlayson (Lib Dem) 761.
