Cleaner Clyde is worth every penny of Abington water works improvements

THE Clyde running through much of rural Clydesdale will be a cleaner river from this week onwards, thanks to the completion of a million pound project in the Upperward hills.

After almost a year of construction, Scottish Water has finished upgrading its Abington waste water works, bringing them completely into line with current environmental standards and preventing future spills of raw sewage into the river during times of heavy rainfall and the resulting flooding.

The new works were declared open by Clydesdale’s MSP Aileen Campbell.
