Cleghorn woman Rena Tarwinska retires from Forestry Commission

CLEGHORN woman Rena Tarwinska, who was Scotland’s first female forester, has just retired from Forestry Commission Scotland after 33 years of dedicated service.

Rena (57), of The Steadings, Broadhouselea, said: “My career at Forestry Commission Scotland has been a fascinating experience and one which I have thoroughly enjoyed.

“I have learned a great deal and enjoyed all the challenges and changes along the way.

“Working in forestry is a chance to really make a difference.

“It’s far more than just cutting down trees, which is all many people know about it.

“My job was very worthwhile as it provided me with a chance to practise land management on a really big scale.

“There are still big possibilities for women in community ranger and wildlife ranger jobs.”
