Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership launch

A £5 million project for the future of the Clyde and Avon Valleys was launched on Saturday.

The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership Project aims to involve local people in conserving the landscape and heritage of an area stretching from Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton to the Falls of Clyde Reserve.

Carluke councillor Eileen Logan introduced the launch, held at the Fruit Day at Overton Farm in the Clyde Valley.

A project team was set up last month, with Maggie Botham, as project manager.

She said: "I think the launch went very very well. There was a lot of interest in it."

The first task facing the team, based in Hope Street, Lanark, is to draw up a programme of projects for the next five years.
