The alterations, from December 14, mean that the towns will lose the direct hourly service to Hamilton they have enjoyed for several years, a blow to the many commuters from Clydesdale who work there.

The alterations also seem to cut entirely the direct rail link from our towns to other stations such as Rutherglen, Argyle Street and all stops beyond Glasgow Central, such as the Exhibition Centre.

This has been mainly caused by switching services from the Glasgow Low Level line to the surface line, terminating at Glasgow Central.

Even more minor changes to the services, such as alterations to train departure times, are causing increasingly grave concern, some commuters to Central Lanarkshire and the city claiming they will no longer be able to get to their work there for 9am unless they rise at the crack of dawn!
