Clydesdale remembers its war heroes this morning

The events will of course have special significance this year with it being the 100th anniversary from the start of World War One.

In Carluke the traditional Rememberance Service takes place at 10.45am in Market Square while in Lanark a service will be held in St Nicholas Church at 10.30am before a march up to the Memorial Hall after the service.

In Biggar the Service of Rememberance will begin at the town’s War Memorial at 10.50am with the service continuing in Biggar Kirk at 11.30am.

Libberton & Quothquan Church will have its own service at 11am led by Rev George Shand while Rev David Easton will conduct Forth’s own service at 11.15am.

Leadhills residents can pay their tributes at 12.30pm with a Rememberance Service with a wreath-laying ceremony taking place immediately after the service.

Over in Lesmahagow the Boys’ Brigade and other organisations in the village will parade to Lesmahagow Old Parish Church at 10am while in Coalburn a church service, led by Ian White, takes place at noon before a short act of worship at the Cenotaph located in the Miners Welfare.
