Clydesdale school bulb competition winners

A TOTAL of 106 primary schools in South Lanarkshire took part in this year's school bulb competition.

And with so many pupils taking part, it was always going to be a difficult choice to select the winners.

In the Biggar area section of the competition the best overall school was awarded to Biggar Primary.

It is the first time the school has won the competition since 1998.

Headteacher Christine McMillan said: "Everyone is delighted that we managed to win. It has been 12 years since we last won the bulb competition and the children worked very hard to do so."

Stuart Komar from Lamington Primary picked up the award for the best overall daffodil while Calla Sutherland won the best hyacinth award.

In the Clydesdale section Jennifer Fleming from Underbank Primary won best overall daffodil while Milton Primary's Aaron Milne won best hyacinth.

Stablestone Primary won the best overall school.

Headteacher Margo Thomson said: "This is the first time we have managed to win and it's all down to the children — because they don't have to enter."
