Clydesdale winners at Baker of the Year Awards

THE ORCHARD (Biggar) Ltd of Biggar trading as Biggar Flavour, have taken National Silver for their Empire Biscuit in the 2014 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.

Its prize was presented by Mich Turner MBE at a ceremony hosted by Scottish Bakers.

Biggar Flavour had also received Regional Gold Award in the Biscuit category for its empire biscuit, and Regional Silver Award in the Savoury category for its steak pie.

And in the National Innovation Award the company was highly commended for its fresh ready meals.

Owner of award winning Little Venice Cake Company and judge on ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery Mich Turner MBE, presented Biggar Flavour owners Jane and Ranald Brown with their awards. And Lanark-based Border Biscuits were highly commended for its Redberry Rascals.

“We are extremely pleased to be recognised in this way” said the company’s Dee Scott.
