Cocktails, cake and keeping quiet for Children in Need

At Ryde Hairdressing in Muirend, the Pudsey Party kicked off at 11am, with a coffee and cake morning for the adults and facepainting and treasure hunt for little ones.

But the fundraising fun didn’t stop there, as the salon also held a ladies night, with proceeds going in the charity bucket.

Ryde’s Ashleigh Crawford told The Extra: “We were all very excited and privileged to be able to do something to help raise money for Children in Need, which gives money to organisations throughout Glasgow.

“Our handsome kilt-wearing volunteers served some mouth-watering cocktails, mocktails and wine and gel nail painting and blow drys went on throughout the day, until our raffle prize and finish at 11pm.

“With donations, raffle and all salon takings, we’ve raised £1295 with more still coming in.”

Elsewhere, proud dad Andy Murray was in touch to shout about daughter Sarah’s fundraising success.

Carolside Primary pupil Sarah and friends Jayne Fuggle and Natasha Crinean (all P7) raised £292 by taking part in a 24-hour sponsored silence.

Across the southside and East Ren, schools and community groups tweeted their Children in Need pics, including Netherlee Primary, where teachers dressed up as pupils for the day, and Shawlands Academy, who said: “Money raised so far by pupils and staff after a day of fun and silence reaches over £1,900. Well done to all, keep it coming!”

The nationwide Children in Need total is a record-breaking £37,100,687 and counting — and donations are still being accepted on 03457 33 22 33 or at www.bbc.co.uk.
