Come along to opening of Lanark’s new Kildare Park

Everyone is invited to come along to Lanark’s Kildare Park today (Sunday) at 2pm to join in the celebrations surrounding the opening of a brand new playpark there.

As reported in the Gazette, the park, in one of the town’s most densely populated areas and adjoining Lanark Primary School, had lost

almost all its existing equipment due to vandalism and wear-and-tear.

The parks authority, South Lanarkshire Council, said it couldn’t afford to refurbish the park.

However, the Lanark community, led by the town’s Playpark Action Group, mounted a major fund-raising campaign to buy the replacement

play equipment.

An amazing £25,000 was raised and the new playpark will be officially opened this afternoon.
