Community groups scoop awards

THREE groups from Cumbernauld have won praise from the It’s Your Neighbourhood initiative after making improvements to their local area.

The Condorrat Tenants and Residents Association, Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park and Cumbernauld Environmental Society all received recommendations at the recent It’s Your Neighbourhood awards ceremony in Stirling.

Balmalloch Nursery in Kilsyth also had praise heaped on them for their neighbourhood efforts which earned them a ‘Thriving’ award.

CTA member John Burke was delighted with his group’s ‘Outstanding’ award which highlighted recent work carried out by the group in Condorrat, including the memorial wall, which was erected this year.

Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park president, Barney Kinsler, was also pleased to see his group’s efforts and hard work recognised with their own ‘Outstanding’ award.

Barney said: “This award represents a joint effort from everyone in the group. We’re very pleased with the award.”

The It’s Your Neighbourhood campaign is organised by Beautiful Scotland.
