The Primrose will be competing in the Wind Band and Orchestra category and will be performing three pieces.

The first piece conductor John Bryce has chosen is “The Raiders March”. This is the main theme of the famous adventure movie Raiders of the Lost Ark directed by Steven Spielberg. The music for the film series was composed by John Williams in 1981 and was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.

Following this, the orchestra will perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s ”Folk Dances”. The Russian is one of the 20th centuries most famous composers and wrote numerous pieces. In Folk Dances he captures several Russian Folk Themes.

The Primrose will close their performance with the finale from the William Tell Overture by Rossini. This piece is also known as the “March of the Swiss Soldiers” is the well known high energy finale to the original opera.
