Maurice says his priority in this election is to stand up for the Union and claims that it is only with the

Conservatives that the Union will remain secure.

Maurice said: “The SNP are desperate for another referendum and now Labour are flip-flopping on their support for the Union. Last year, two million Scots voted No to independence - many of them Labour supporters - and they will be appalled that Labour can now not be trusted on the Union.

“A particular concern is that, such is their obsession with pursuing another Independence Referendum, the SNP Scottish Government has failed to deliver on almost every devolved area – including policing, health and education. My campaign will focus on the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party being the Scottish alternative to the SNP and the only party now reliably in support of the United Kingdom.

“I will be fighting a positive campaign focussing on local issues and highlighting the winning policies that only the Conservatives can deliver.”
