The development, at Hyndshaw Farm, will see approximately 36,000 tonnes of coal extracted over a nine month period.

The development, given the green light by members of South Lanarkshire Council’s Planning Committee on Tuesday, will result in roughly 80 HGV lorries travelling to and from the site.

One condition of the planning permission being granted is that the route the lorries take must travel down the A73 to the Bogside roundabout.
