Council fix for stairs at Forrest Place, Crossford

A CROSSFORD woman has hit out at the council over the state of a flight of stairs in her block of flats.

The stairs, situated in the flats in Forrest Place, were closed off by the council after complaints from residents.

However, with only one flight of stairs now open to residents, the woman, who asked not to be named, believes the stairs should be immediately fixed as she fears residents could be at risk.

“This has been going on since last April. God forbid if there is a fire at one side of the flats and we can’t get down because there is only one staircase.”

A council spokesman told the Gazette that the stairs would be fixed as “a matter of urgency”.
