Council may have to deal with Cumbernauld seagull problem

Claims that North Lanarkshire Council has no obligation to deal with the menace of seagulls have been questioned at the highest level, after Jamie Hepburn raised the matter in Parliament.

Mr Hepburn got into dialogue with environment and climate change minister Paul Wheelhouse, on behalf of constituents in Carbrain. The area has been dogged by a noise nuisance from the birds who’ve attacked locals.

And although there is no current requirement for the council to act, it emerges that the minister wants to put an action plan in place at local authority level to tackle to the problem.
