Council plans recession-bursting expansion at Lanark’sw Caldwellside

GLANCING at a Lanark item of business on the agenda of a South Lanarkshire Council meeting this week, you’d be forgiven for asking yourself: “Whatever happened to the recession?”

In the midst of what some are describing as the most dangerous time in the European economy since the Second World War, a glimmer of light at the end of the long dark financial tunnel was to be found in Item 12 on the agenda for the council’s planning committee meeting yesterday.

It proposes expanding Lanark’s Caldwellside Industrial Estate now to cash in on the economic recovery when it comes along.
