Couple's anguish after wedding firm shuts EIGHT days before their wedding

Kirkintilloch Scott Wilson is due to wed partner Emma McBride on Friday, June 10 on the banks of Loch Lomond.

But the couple are £2000 out of pocket and their big day has been thrown into turmoil after the planner vanished with their cash.

Happy Talk Events in Glasgow, run by Michelle and Alistair McMorris shut suddenly overnight last weekend.

The pair disappeared and are thought to be at their second home in orlando, Florida.

Scott and Emma have just a few days left to try to salvage their big day at the Lodge on the Loch hotel.

Scott (35) said: “We are devastated.

“We have lost more than £2,000 and it’s heartbreaking.

“The whole package was ordered, from table decor to the LED dancefloor, so now we’re just left with tables and tablecloths from the venue.”

Scott and Emma, 28, have been together for 10 years and have two young children.

Scott added: “I feel for all the other people too, it’s terrible, Where will we get the money in this space of time? We’re working all the hours under the sun to pay for the wedding.

“We’re now left trying to find other people and get prices together, but the two of us are working and we’ve got two young kids, so money isn’t a disposable thing.

“It was my boy’s parent’s night last night and, after he found out about it, he said to his mum that he would give her the money in his tin as long as he could keep £1 for the ice cream van.

“That’s a seven-year-old - it’s devastating, but we’ll just need to club together and get something sorted.”

Through the heartache, the couple’s family have rallied around them and vowed to do everything in their power to make sure they have nuptials to remember for the right reasons.

He added: “Disgusting is the most polite way to describe this, it’s shocking that somebody can do it.

“It’s obviously been planned and pre-meditated because they were asking people for big deposits.”

The couple’s friend Lynne Campbell told the Herald: “What this company has done is an outrage and dispicable. And left poor Emma in an absolute state days before her wedding.”
