Crash barrier plea

FRESH calls are being made to improve safety measures on a Cumbernauld road where a schoolboy was recently knocked down.

Condorrat and Westfield community councils, councillors, pupils and staff of St Maurice’s High School and MSP Jamie Hepburn believe that barriers should be installed on both sides of North Road to prevent an accident like the one that occurred on Friday, November 2, from happening again.

The News and Chronicle previously reported a St Maurice’s High School pupil was badly injured sustaining a broken shoulder, elbow and leg in the accident.

Now it is hoped that North Lanarkshire Council will install the barriers to improve safety and reconsider the speed limit outside the school gates which is currently 40mph.
