Armed men in balaclavas attacked man in Bellshill home

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Bellshill after he arrived home from work

The incident occurred at 12.50am on Wednesday (May 13) in the town’s Calder Road.

The 39-year-old man was confronted by two armed men who had forced entry to t o his home - and demanded cash.

Both men struggled with the home owner but could not overpower him and eventually made off, empty handed.

The man did not require any medical attention.

One of the suspects is described as being around five foot nine in in height and the second as five foot 11in. Both were wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.

Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart of Wishaw CID said: “The man waswas left shaken as a result of this incident.

We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time to get in touch.”
