Arrest made after Cumbernauld Centre crash involving three cars

A driver who made off from the scene of a road crash with two other cars in Cumbernauld on Monday May 10 has been arrested.

Police were summoned to the crash scene on the northbound section of Central Way around 1.45pm and it became apparent that the driver thought to be responsible for the smash was gone.

He was traced by police shortly afterwards and failed a breath test. He was then arrested and charged with drink driving, dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Fortunately no-one was hurt but the roadway had to be shut for a period to remove the vehicles and make the area safe.
