A drug dealer who was allegedly attacked in his home could be given a chance to kick his heroin addiction.

Martin Dillon (48), of Draffen Tower, Motherwell, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court today. He admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug at his former home in Merry Street, Motherwell, in February last year.

The case was postponed earlier this year because Dillon was in hospital after the alleged attack.

Police were called after a report that he and a woman aged 34 had been assaulted and robbed of valuables and cash at the Merry Street address in March.

In court today defence agent Stephen MacBride said a preliminary report showed Dillon is deemed suitable to be assessed for a drug treatment and testing order.

Sheriff Daniel Kelly told the solicitor: “He is assessed as suitable, but there are reservations. We shall just have to wait and see.”

The sheriff continued the case until December 7. Dillon, who had been in custody since September afer failing to appear at court, was given bail.
