Biker dies from injuries sustained in crash on the M74

Police Scotland have just announced that A 54-year-old man has died following a road crash on the M74 near to Crawford.

Around 11.20am on Thursday morning, (August 23) the male was travelling south on a Yamaha motorcycle near to junction 14 on the M74 at Crawford when it appears the motorcycle went out of control and collided with a safety barrier.

The biker, who was from the Lesmahagow area died at the scene. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

Sgt Craig McDonald at Motherwell Road Policing Unit would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this crash and can be contacted via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 1175 of 23 August.
