Enquiries have now established the two vehicles believed to be involved were a black Audi A4 estate and a white Audi A5 sportback.

The white Audi was seen parked outside the house before driving off at speed at 7.50pm and around five minutes later, the black Audi was also spotted nearby.

Sergeant John Watson asked for private dashcam footage that neighbours might have and added: “I would also ask any dog walkers, cyclists or anyone in the area of Station Road, Blantyre Road and Castle Avenue if they saw anything unusual to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 3321.

This was the second robbery in the village after a Fairways home was raided of high-value diamond jewellery and cash on Sunday September 22,

The luxury items taken include a Links of London jewellery box Louis Vuitton vanity case and wallet plus a Chopard watch which was encrusted with diamonds.

A police spokesperson said: “Although the items stolen are of high monetary value, the sentimental value of the items heavily exceed the cost as items have been inherited through family or were presents.”

There has been speculation in the wealthy area that properties are being “watched” by would-be thieves who are sizing up homes to target.
