Officers are checking for any available CCTV footage from in and around that area for any further information which could assist them in their enquiries.

Detective Constable Paul Corr said: “It’s important we find out exactly what happened to this man and why. He may have been walking along Balmore Road anywhere between 7.30 and 8.45am and I would ask anyone who was around the area at that time to contact us. In particular, motorists, bus and taxi drivers, please think back and consider if you saw the injured man. He was wearing a light grey hooded top and red shorts.”
