Community payback order for Thornliebank couple who left injured baby with fractured thigh

Mark Watson and Lorraine Donnan decided to take the 11-week-old to the hospital the day after a Disney on Ice performance.

The couple also failed to get medical treatment after noticing the boy was in pain and the baby was not seen by medics until six days after he suffered a fractured thigh bone when he fell from a couch.

Watson and Donnan have been handed a one-year community payback order.

A spokesman for NSPCC Scotland said: “Watson and Donnan were in a position of trust with the welfare of a vulnerable child in their hands, but their actions resulted in pain and suffering.

“Young children rely completely on the adults who are supposed to care for them and we must all be alert to the signs that a child may need help and be ready to take action to protect them.

“NSPCC Scotland works in schools and in the community to prevent abuse and neglect and anyone worried about a child can contact our Helpline to report concerns.”
