Van thefts have proved to be a town-wide problem with many businesses also facing the headache of losing expensive specialist equipment which have been stored inside the pricey stolen vehicles.

Police have been dealing with two such thefts in as many days after white Ford van was stolen from Kildrum’s Braehead Road overnight on Monday July 5 and a second van was taken from Condorrat’s Etive Court overnight on Tuesday July 6.

Communities Inspector Neil MacLeod said: “Police would urge owners of vans, particularly Ford vans to be particularly security conscious, and anyone with any information on either theft or who has observed any form of suspicious behaviour should contact police.”
