Cyclist punched in the face and robbed of her bike in Glasgow’s Queen’s Park

A woman has been attacked in Queen’s Park in Glasgow and robbed of her bike.

Police are appealing for information about the assault and theft which happened on Sunday morning (June 7), around half an hour after midnight.

The 32-year-old woman was cycling along Queen’s Drive, near to Niddrie Square, when she was approached by the man who tried to steal her bike.

A struggle ensued during which she was punched in the face by the man who then made off on the bike towards Pollokshaws Road.

The woman did not require hospital treatment.

The suspect is described as Asian in appearance, early 30s, 5ft 9in height, of medium build, dark hair, clean shaven and was wearing dark clothing.

The bike is a road bike, blue and white, and has the wording ‘MERIDA’ on the frame.

Constable Jamie Whitton, Community Investigation Unit, Govan Police Station, said: “Although the woman did not need to go to hospital, this robbery was very distressing for her.
