Police are still trying to track the pervert – who has terrorised four women in the town – and they have brought in additional plain clothed patrols in a bid to try to apprehend him.

“This man is a very sad individual,” said South Lanarkshire Provost Eileen Logan.

“It is worrying and very sad that he is still wandering the streets of Carluke.

“It must have been very frightening for the women who have seen him.

“People shouldn’t be subjected to something like that in this day and age.”

Inspector Scott Jones of Lanark Police said that investigations were continuing into the crimes.

Inspector Jones said that additional plain clothed police patrols had been set up in Carluke in the wake of the incidents.

As reported last week, the flasher – described as a scruffy man aged around 20 – indecently exposed himself to two women in Wilton Road and near Carluke’s Tesco store in separate incidents on Thursday, June 19.

And he struck twice on Sunday, June 22, putting his hands down his trousers in front of a 16-year-old female in High Street before exposing himself to another teenager in Benty’s Lane 20 minutes later after making sexual remarks to her.
