Hunt for '˜tiara' girl who targeted passengers with laser pen

Now British Transport Police are urging anyone with information about the incident, which happened on Tuesday, to come forward.

A member of the public on board a Glasgow-East Kilbride train at Clarkston station alerted police by text shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.

Police were told a group of girls -- one wearing a tiara - were deliberately shining laser pens at passengers’ faces.

British Transport police officers were quickly on the scene, but despite a thorough search the culprits had fled and could not be found.

The girls were aged about 15, and were each wearing black jackets and blue jeans.

Inspector Gary Brown from British Transport Police, said: “This was reckless and dangerous behaviour which could have easily caused serious eye damage to the passengers on the train.

“You would never shine a laser in your own eyes so it is bewildering why someone would be so senseless and target members of the public.

“We have since launched an investigation and I would like to hear from anyone who was on the train or saw what happened.

“I am aware that one of the females was wearing a tiara, if you saw this group please get in touch as your information might help.”
