Kind neighbours step into help victims of Motherwell house blaze

A crowdfunding campaign has been set up to help the two families whose homes were damaged by stray fireworks last night (Thursday) in Motherwell’s Corrie Drive.

The devastation  has made national headlines after the roofs of two properties were set ablaze.

This morning, camera crews rushed to the site to cover the story for lunchtime news bulletins -which saw neighbours compare the site to a “war zone”

This was amidst reports that fireworks continued to create both a further safety risk and a noise nuisance until 11pm, despite what had gone before it.

Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident but the Motherwell Times has since learned that good hearted neighbours have rallied round to arrange an online collection to help the victims repair the damage

A  more detailed report on the fire will appear in next week’s copy of the Motherwell Times.
