Man arrested after police operation in Motherwell street

Officers have confirmed that an arrest was made after a highly visible operation in a Motherwell street last Friday (April 3) over gun fears.

Residents of Kildonan Place saw a heightened police presence in their midst as police cars rushed to the scene carrying both uniformed and plainclothes personnel.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Officers attended at Kildonan Place in Motherwell at 9.30pm on Friday 3 April after reports of a firearwithin a property.

“No firearm was found following a search.

“Police Scotland takes all such reports of this nature seriously.

“A 47 year old man was charged in connection with the matter and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
