Around 9.30pm the 31-year-old man was a rear seat passenger within a blue Mercedes car travelling west along Fotheringay Road in the Pollokshields area of Glasgow.

At this time a light coloured car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, with three occupants within, drove towards the Mercedes from the opposite direction and an exchange of words took place between the occupants of both vehicles.

The three men from the light coloured car then got out of the vehicle and began attacking the 31-year-old man before making off. The other two occupants of the Mercedes car were uninjured.

The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for a stab wound before being released.

The three suspects are described as being of Asian appearance.

Detective Constable Stuart MacLennan at Cathcart CID said: “This incident occurred at a fairly busy time on a Saturday night and as such I appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Fotheringay Road at this time to think back to whether they saw the suspects getting out of their car and arguing with the occupants of the Mercedes.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Cathcart Police office via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where anonymity can be maintained.
