Motherwell postman under police investigation for ‘indecent communication’ aimed at male pensioner

Police have confirmed that they are investigating an incident which saw a postman allegedly send an obscene letter to a pensioner at a Motherwell sheltered housing complex.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on Thursday, November 19.

The postman involved made two approaches to his alleged victim in total – The first involved a request to enter the home in question with a view to using the toilet in contravention of Covid 19 guidelines

The householder allowed him the use of the facilities but the second point of contact was allegedly made via a note sent to the man at a later stage.

The Motherwell Times is privy to the message inside but has opted not to feature its contents to avoid causing offence in a family newspaper.

Police were called in after the horrified recipient of the note decided that action should be taken.

It is believed that other residents at the home have been interviewed by officers in a bid to ascertain if this was a one-off.
