Police appeal for '˜vital' clue to Shawlands murder bid

Three months after an attempted murder in Shawhill Road police have launched a re-appeal in an attempt to shed light on the attack.

It happened at around 8.10am on Thursday, March 9, when the culprit opened fire on his victim at close range and inflicted a leg injury.

Despite his wound the 34-year-old chased the suspect down Shawhill Road and turned right into Hector Road then across Pollokshaws Road.

He then turned left into St Ronan’s Drive where he got into the passenger seat of a dark coloured car, which sped off on to Kenilworth Avenue.

The man responsible is described as 5ft 7 inches in height. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a dark coloured beanie hat.

Detective Inspector Colin Hailstones from Cathcart Police Office said: “Although three months have passed since this shooting took place, our investigation is continuing to trace the man responsible for this shooting.

“I am in no doubt that there are still people out there with vital information regarding this incident who, for whatever reason, are reluctant to come forward and speak to police.

“I’d like to assurance people that any information can be given in confidence.”
