Police appeal for witnesses after youths are stabbed by knife thug

Two teenagers were permanently scarred in a vicious knife attack during a row with a man in Uddingston's Second Avenue on Friday night.

The victims, aged 16 and 17, were taken to Monklands Hospital, where the 16-year-old’s condition is described as “stable”, while the other boy was later released.

The suspect wore dark clothes and had his hood up. He is white, aged 30 to 40, around 5ft 10in, of medium build and has a gaunt appearance.

After the attack, which happened about 11.50pm, he got into a silver car and drove off towards Viewpark’s Old Edinburgh Road.

Police, who are treating the attacks as serious assault, have since been carrying out door to door enquiries and are studying CCTV footage,

Detective Christopher Smith said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and two young men will be left permanently scarred as a result of these assaults.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have seen or heard the altercation to contact us. Perhaps you saw the vehicle when it was driving off.
