Police hunt man after incident in Kirkintilloch yesterday (Tuesday, May 26)

Police were out in force in Kirkintilloch yesterday (Tuesday, May 26) after an incident in the town.

Officers told the Herald they received a report around 7am of a disturbance at Victoria Street.

A police spokesperson said officers launched a full search of the area in an effort to locate a man and that their inquiries are continuing.

They have declined to go into any further details.

Eye witnesses spoke of officers with police dogs running through back gardens and a police helicopter flying overhead.

Another posted on a community social media page: “What the hell is going on?”

The incident is not believed to be related to an assault on the canal path near the Leisuredrome at Bishopbriggs last week.

A police spokesperson said there was “no threat to the general public” regarding yesterday’s incident.
