Police interview 200 in hunt for Shawlands gunman

More than 200 pedestrians and motorists were spoken to as part of the stop and speak operation.

It was staged exactly a week after local man Ross Craig, (34), was shot at ten past eight in the morning.

He had been getting into his car outside his Shawhill Road home when the culprit blasted him at close range, wounding him in the leg.

Despite his injury Mr Craig then chased the suspect down Shawhill Road across Pollokshaws Road towards St Ronan’s Drive.

There the gunman got into the passenger seat of a dark coloured car, which sped off towards Kenilworth Avenue.

The suspect is described as 5ft 7ins in height and wore dark coloured clothing with a dark coloured beanie hat.

Detective Inspector Colin Hailstones at Cathcart Police Office said of Thursday’s police exercise: “This operation was very worthwhile, and officers spoke to a wide range of members of the public, including people heading to work, tradesmen and parents dropping their children off at school.

“Our dedicated inquiry team are continuing to examine CCTV footage as well as working to establish a motive and identify whoever committed this brazen and dangerous act.

“Police Scotland will not tolerate this type of mindless violence in any form, and although we believe this was a targeted attack, we do have additional police patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

“Information from members of the public is going to be absolutely vital in helping us bring the person responsible to justice and I would appeal to anyone who could potentially assist with our investigation to please come forward.
