Police seek four men after woman’s ordeal in Uddingston

Police in Uddingston are appealing for information following an assault and attempted robbery in Old Mine Nature Park.

The incident happened around 7.30-8pm on Saturday, 25 April, 2020 near to New Edinburgh Road and involved a 22-year-old woman.

Four men in approached the woman, one of the men assaulted her before trying to take her handbag. She was able to run away towards New Edinburgh Road leaving the men within the park. The woman did not sustain any injury.

The suspects are described as all being in their early to mid-twenties, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 9ins tall and wearing tracksuits.

Detective Constable Scott Johnston of Wishaw CID: “This was a terrifying experience for the woman involved who was left shaken and distressed.

“Officers are reviewing CCTV footage in the area to help trace the persons responsible for this.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around this time and saw anyone matching the descriptions or anything suspicious to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
