Both men have been described as wearing all dark clothing and hats were disturbed by the householder at Speirs Road, Bearsden around 11.10pm on Saturday, February 27.
A police spokesperson said: “They had in their possession what looked like bolt cutters. They didn't say anything when challenged and walked off towards Rannoch Drive. We attended but they were not traced.
"We want to make residents aware and to report any suspicious activity to police.”
He added that officers were following a positive line of enquiry in relation to the incident.
