Suspicious death in Carbrain triggers major investigation

Chief Inspector David Bruce, the area commander for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, said: “Around 12 midnight on Thursday, October 1 police were called to a report of a disturbance on Glenhove Road, Cumbernauld.

“Officers attended, and a man was found with serious injuries. Sadly, he died at the scene. A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death, however the death is being treated as suspicious at this time. Officers are conducting door to door enquiries in the local area of Glenhove Road, and are reviewing all available CCTV in an effort to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.”

The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed as post-mortem investigations are still ongoing.

Mr Bruce added: “Residents in the area will notice a large police presence over the course of the weekend while enquiries are carried out.

“There is no information to suggest any other members of the community are at risk but high visibility foot patrols will be carried out to offer public reassurance. I would urge anyone who has any information about the incident to call Police Scotland on 101.”
