The streets involved are Dalveen Drive, Glencroft Avenue, Kelvin Road, Hillfoot Gardens, Calderbraes Avenue, Barrwood Place and Lincoln Avenue.

It is thought that the activity was most prolific within the early hours of Monday.

Some reports suggest that vehicles were not left unlocked- but that the thieves gained access regardless with the possible use of a device in use by criminals.

Police based in Bellshill are now on the hunt for anyone with information about these thefts to come forward - and to share the information that thieves are on the loose

They have also taken to their own Facebook page to make a special request for private CCTV footage which could help identify those who plundered the cars - both in driveways and the wide range of streets involved.

A police spokesperson said: “If you have witnessed anything in the area, or have captured any suspicious activity on private CCTV footage please contact officers on 101 quoting incident 1110.
