Two due to appear in court today after Friday’s major disturbance in Kirkintilloch

Two police officers were injured after a major disturbance at Kirkintilloch on Friday night.

Local people were shocked to see up to a dozen police cars with sirens blaring rush to the Townhead area.

They had been called to a property in the area shortly after 10.50pm.

A 27-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are both due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today (Monday, July 13).

The injured officers were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and have now been released following treatment.

Local area commander, Chief inspector Lorna Gibson said: “A report was received of a disturbance within a property at Townhead in Kirkintilloch shortly after 10.50pm on Friday, July 10.

“Two males – aged 27 and 14 – have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Reports will be submitted to the relevant authorities.

“The 27-year-old will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, July 13, from custody. The 14-year-old has been released on an undertaking, also to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

“Two male police officers were injured during the incident and were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Both have subsequently been released following treatment.”
