Warning issued again over road safety and animal welfare up at Palacerigg

Mounted police have travelled to a rural part of Cumbernauld in a quest to boost both road safety and animal welfare at a key route used by riders.

Operation Lose The Blinkers states that motorists should pass horses and riders safely at a two metre distance at no faster than 10 miles per hour. And those involved had the chance to chat to drivers in the Palacerigg Country Park area last Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Tannoch Stables welcomed this saying: “This operation relies strongly on the horse incidents reported to the British Horse Society via www.bhs.or.uk/our-work/safety/report-an-incident. It can really make a difference.”
