Croy makes its pitch

CROY could soon boast a state-of-the-art sports facility after proposals to overhaul the blaes football pitch at Constarry Road were reviewed by a council committee on Tuesday.

North Lanarkshire Council's learning and leisure committee was presented with a progress report on the project which would see the installation of a 3G Pitch and construction of a new pavilion.

Councillor Mark Griffin is strongly in support of the proposals.

He said: "The new facilities will cater for numerous activities like football, rugby, climbing, athletics and cycling which has long been the desire for the community in Croy.

"SportScotland have already indicated that they would be willing to help fund the initial project and are also interested in exploring the possibility of using the whole quarry site for a range of outdoor activities when it comes to the end of its working life."
