Croy station in line for major upgrade?

The plans are part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP), which will result in faster, more frequent services between the two cities.

A new morning peak hour express service will also run between the village and Glasgow.

For Croy, that means significant upgrades to the station and infrastructure, including the construction of an additional track on the village side of the line, both platforms being extended and new foot and road bridges being built.

Scott Johnson, chairman of Kilsyth Community Council, said: “We discussed it at the last meeting and the overwhelming opinion is that two or three residents are going to have short-term noise during construction, but the benefits are going to outweigh that and we fully support it.”

Councillor David Key said: “The EGIP project is good news for the Kilsyth and Cumbernauld area. However, Network Rail must ensure that local communities are buying in to the project.”
